The main purpose of the International Institute for Dialogue among Cultures and Civilizations is the promotion of the idea of dialogue among cultures and civilizations at national, regional and international levels. To this end, the Institute has defined an extensive operational platform and defined specific missions to expand and promote each area of commitment. Among the diverse activities planned and pursued by the Institute are:

o       Strategic planning for the promotion of the idea of dialogue among civilizations among governmental and non-governmental organizations in Iran and the world

o       Establishing think tanks and encouraging Iranian and world elites to promote dialogue among cultures and civilizations and plan and present the needed mechanisms for its implementation

o       Establishing and supporting local and international associations, councils and networks involved in the dialogue among civilizations

o       Promoting the collaboration of accredited scientific and cultural figures and establishments with the Institute at both national and international levels

o       Establishing ties and joint projects with similar national and international associations and centers in the field of dialogue among civilizations

o       Defining the theoretical foundations of dialogue in different areas, and devising practical methods of dialogue in Iran and the world

o       Conducting specific research projects and studies to consolidate the democratic interpretation of religion, present the dialogue-oriented aspect of Islam and restore Islam’s peaceful image

o       Composing and translating authoritative scientific and cultural works in different languages, with an emphasis on dialogue among civilizations

o       Organizing national and international seminars in collaboration with cultural and scientific centers and universities in Iran and abroad

o       Holding different educational workshops and courses in fields related to the activities of the Institute at both general and specialized levels

o       Implementing research projects and educational programs, initiating courses and establishing chairs on dialogue in collaboration with other similar institutes, universities and research centers in Iran and abroad

o       Establishing educational, cultural and research centers and institutions active in the field of dialogue

o       Establishing the required offices and branches in Iran and abroad for the promotion of the idea of dialogue among civilizations

o       Establishing a specialized library and data bank

o       Publishing periodicals, books and other cultural, scientific and artistic products in fields related to the activities of the Institute

o       Designating and granting special national and international awards for the promotion of the idea of dialogue among civilizations

o       Providing assistance to establish and support dialogue institutions in Iran, the world of Islam and the world

o       Providing support for different sectors of society, specially the youth, for the promotion of dialogue

o       Establishing and supporting conflict resolution institutions and performing the necessary assignments to reduce tensions and confrontations in Iran and the world

o       Participating and membership in international associations and institutions for the advancement of the idea of dialogue among civilizations
